Introducing Our New Rating Box

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Dear tellows fellows,

Our community is changing and developing every day. We always take our users‘ suggestions and ideas into account, in order to make tellows a better platform. Therefore, we have developed some new features to make the tellows community even more helpful and effective than before!

1. Rating without comment

It is very important for us that we can give information for our users which are not just informative but also helpful. We believe it’s significant to consider the fact that our users might not have enough information to write lengthy comments about some phone numbers. Therefore we have developed a new feature, so that you are able to rate a phone number without writing any comment, especially if you think that there’s no necessary information you can share. Caller Types at tellows

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Every number that you find in our community is classified according to the type of call. Through different types of call, our users can easily recognize to which category the number belongs to. But sometimes the different call types might be confusing. You might sometimes be wondering whether a certain number should be categorized „Telemarketer“ or as „Aggressive Advertising“. To avoid any kind of confusion and to show the clear differences between the caller types, we would like to give an overview of every single caller type that we have at tellows. But we won’t just explain what the term means, we will also give you some tips if you perhaps receive these types of call. Weiterlesen

Fake Technical Support On The Rise

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Dear tellows fellows,

lately we have been seeing many reports in our tellows community regarding fraudsters claiming to be computer tech support. These fraudsters used the most classic trick: they claimed to be from a well-known company such as Microsoft and told us that our computer had been infected or hacked. In order to fix the computer problem and prevent the virus from damaging the computer any further, they offered „assistance“. If we had agreed to this, they would give us some instructions we must follow. Usually, we would be asked to visit certain websites and enter our personal data there. Some fraudsters could even hack the computer and show a pop-up window to ensure us that our computer had indeed been infected by some viruses. In the end, they would either try to steal our personal bank data through the access we gave or charge us for the costs of fixing the non-existent computer issue. Weiterlesen

No More Junk Faxes!

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Having a fax machine might be one of the most convenient things for us to send and receive business documents. But sometimes, we get loaded with the amount of junk faxes we never wish to receive. Since we have already seen many reports from our tellows friends about the bothering acts, we think it’s important to give more information of how junk faxes work and what we can do to stop receiving them.

French University Project with tellows API

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Dear tellows fellows,

tellows is versatile and the tellows data can be used for different systems. We developed an API that suits all kinds of projects and allows you to access the database and use the number details as preferred.

Today, we want to introduce a student project from the UPMC University in Paris, which was realized with the help of the tellows API.
For the students, the task was to build an Android App with an API. The idea was to develop a caller ID that identifies French numbers and shows whether a number is dangerous or trustworthy. With the help of our API, they managed to build the App in just a few weeks. As soon as a call comes in, it shows the respective tellows score that indicates if the number is dangerous or not. Opening the app, it will show a list of all recently received calls. Furthermore, it displays the number, score and country.

The final result was presented within the class and turned out successful. We are happy that we could be part of it and help to realize the project. However, a publication of the application is not possible.

tellows is happy to collaborate with companies and developers to create projects for commercial or research purposes. The collaborations are broad. For example, we have been working together with an organization but also with other Apps

If you have any questions or feedback, please leave a comment.

If you need more information about our API, please visit this website.

tellows App for iPhone – New Login Feature and Personal Blacklist

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Dear tellows fellows,

We have good news! A new tellows iPhone version  for „tellows Caller ID & Blocker“ is available in the App store: 1.4.0! The app works for all devices using iOS 10 or higher.

Version 1.4.0 comes with an improved protection from unwanted phone calls, thanks to some new features. You have the ability to log in to your own tellows account and easily access it from multiple devices. You can also edit your account settings and posted comments, when you log in to tellows in the web browser.

Additionally, you can now create your personal blacklist and add unwanted numbers that are not yet rated or don’t appear in the blacklist. If you rate a number negatively, it will be added to your personal blacklist and will be blocked the next time you receive a call. Even if the overall rating assigned by other tellows users of the phone number is different, it will still be blocked. You must be logged in to use this feature and synchronize your personal blacklist with your device. You can use your one personal blacklist across all devices and tellows products.

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Leider ist der Eintrag nur auf Amerikanisches Englisch verfügbar.

Dear tellows fellows, we love staying in touch with you and always keep you informed about new events on our blog. Today we want to talk about online trading because there are tons of reports about companies proposing how to make money online using their trading product or simply offering a trading academy.
Let´s see some examples…

Waleed:“I got a call from this number the caller was aggressive and better described as rude. She tried to insist on taking about trading and that I appeared in her website. When I told her not interested she made a comment „what you don’t like my voice“and this is when I just told her this is the end of the call and hung up”

Sten: “Aggressive, too insisting and offensive”
